Your Cup Is Empty Inc understands that mothers and wives give up a lot to raise children and support their husbands. However, when it comes to health, mothers and wives frequently ignore or put their needs at the bottom of the to-do list, leading to years and years of poor mental and physical health for themselves and their families. To mitigate the barriers to mental health well-being among mothers, wives, and couples, Your Cup Is Empty Inc facilitates counseling, coaching, and seminars to nurture and sustain healthy families and communities – where everyone has a full cup of love, support, and compassion.
Your Cup Is Empty Inc seeks to prevent the breakdown of family units due to unaddressed mental health concerns by promoting optimal family health, which, in turn, promotes optimal community health. When a mother or wife has an overflowing cup, she can adequately pour into her family.
One in five women will experience maternal mental health (MMH) conditions during pregnancy or the first year postpartum, and seventy-five percent of those women will go untreated.
More than 1 in 5 women in the United States experienced a mental health condition in the past year, such as depression or anxiety. Many mental health conditions, such as depression and bipolar disorder, affect more women than men or affect women in different ways from men.
At Your Cup Is Empty Inc, led by Dr. Gail Crowder, we are dedicated to connecting mothers, wives, and couples with the resources and tools they need to recognize, treat, and overcome their struggle with mental health complications. Additionally, we aim to increase awareness of and reduce mental health stigmas – specifically in minority and underserved communities. Increasing awareness and reducing the stigma will allow mothers and wives to feel heard, acknowledged, and supported and have informed resources to help lessen the weight of their often busy and overwhelming lives so they no longer feel alone or afraid.
Working in partnership with counselors, therapists, organizations, and agencies, we strengthen our community’s support network to ensure mothers and wives are screened, treated, and referred for mental health concerns, not only throughout pregnancy but also throughout life.
